Home / Holiday
There are many ways YOU can spread holiday cheer to the families staying at Ronald McDonald House!
Our Santa Shop is a free shopping experience available to any family staying with us during the holidays. Families sign up for their shopping visits and select gifts for each of their children – patients as well as siblings. Volunteers wrap the gifts and elves deliver the gifts in Santa Sacks on Christmas Eve. In addition, we have pop-up shops inside our partner hospitals. Over 100 families visit within the first week, and the Santa Shop provides holiday cheer to hundreds of children.
You can help by donating gifts, games, gadgets and gift cards so we can have a fully stocked holiday store in early December.
Please deliver or ship new, unopened, and unwrapped gifts by December 6.
Fill the bellies and hearts of families staying at their child’s hospital bedside this holiday season by sponsoring a meal at one or all of our hospital locations:
Contact our JoyFULL Eats coordinator for delivery instructions and a list of restaurants that cater individually packaged meals to our partner hospitals.
The holidays can be a particularly difficult time for families with a seriously ill child. After shelter, food is often the most pressing need for families experiencing a medical crisis. We need shelf-stable snacks and meals all year round, and the holidays are no exception. You can shop our JoyFULL Eats wishlist, or hold a holiday snack drive and deliver the collected items to 1907 Holcombe Blvd.
Let our elves take over the chore of writing, addressing, and mailing your personal or business holiday cards! For a minimum donation of $10.00 per card, we take your holiday card list and personalize your cards, then address, stamp and mail them. Card artwork is created by one of our residents and all proceeds benefit RMHC Greater Houston.
Join our community partner, Windsor Communities, in their Give a Bear holiday program. The program raises funds through the sponsorship of teddy bears donated to local chapters. Over the past decade, Windsor Communities has donated more than $150,000 and 10,000 teddy bears to RMHC chapters across the country.
Gather your coworkers or organization’s team members to decorate your themed tree to be displayed at RMHC Greater Houston locations. You provide the tree, the volunteers to decorate it, and all of the kid-friendly decorations. Families will vote on their favorite tree and the winner receives bragging rights. Our 2023 winning tree was provided by Lockton Companies!
The next time you visit any Houston-area McDonald’s restaurant and order at the kiosk, drive thru or counter, be sure to Round Up for RMHC! Your spare change stays local and directly benefits the families of RMHC Greater Houston.
