Planned Giving Opportunities

A Legacy of the Heart

Plan a legacy of the heart.

Did you know that you can support our mission through planned gifts? Unlike cash donations, planned gifts are typically made from assets in your estate, and may come to fruition after your lifetime. Often a planned gift can help you make a more significant contribution than you might have otherwise imagined, without sacrificing income or security for your own family. There are several types of planned gifts:

Wills and Bequests

A bequest in your will or living trust lets you take care of loved ones first and make a remarkable difference in the lives of others. You retain the flexibility to change your will in the event that life circumstances change.

Retirement Plan Assets

Consider designating RMHC Greater Houston as a beneficiary of a percentage of your retirement plan assets. If you are 70 or older, you may be able to benefit our mission and receive tax benefits in return. Please check with your tax advisor for specific details.

Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust

This trust allows you to receive income each year from the assets placed in the trust. After your lifetime, the trust balance goes to your charities of choice.

Life Insurance

By naming RMHC Greater Houston as the beneficiary of a new or existing policy, you could make a larger gift than you imagined. Transferring policy ownership to RMHC Greater Houston gives the added benefit of a tax credit for the cash surrender value. Your premium becomes tax-deductible.

If you have questions, concerns, or would like to discuss your will or estate plans, please contact Judy Koch at jkoch@rmhchouston.org or call 713-795-3571.

Please check with your tax advisor, lawyer or financial planner regarding specific financial or legal details.

Gifts of Stock or Securities

If you have stock or securities that have appreciated in value, you may pay no capital gains upon transfer to Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Houston and you may receive a tax deduction for the full market value of the donation. Have questions or need help? Email Lisa Estes at lestes@rmhchouston.org.

Memorial Giving

By paying tribute to the memory of a loved one through a memorial gift, you will be honoring their life while making a difference in the lives of our families. Gifts may be designated to a specific program of your choice and are fully tax-deductible.

Please check with your tax advisor, lawyer or financial planner regarding specific financial or legal details.

Give the gift of togetherness.

We believe families are stronger when they battle a medical crisis together. With your help we can keep family members close to each other, and steps from their child’s medical treatment.
